Hi, y'all,

The Monthly meeting will be held at the Aviation Museum at Lake Hood on Tuesday, February 28th at 7:00 PM.

We're planning on having a very interesting presentation with the Valdez Aviation X-Games as the subject.  Thanks to Mike Ice for steering the presenters in our direction.  I have been told that Martin, Jamie, and Randy (the fine gentlemen giving the presentation) will also be providing PIZZAS & DRINKS!

Also...there will be 2 free raffles for paid-up members in attendance.  The $50.00 gift card to Northern Lights Avionics AND a mystery tool valued at less than $800.00 (quite a bit less, actually) will be given away.

Should be a good one...HOPE TO SEE Y'ALL THERE!!

FedEx Show Chapter 42 Meeting

Where: City Diner (Benson & Minnesota)

Jim Moss will be there to discuss the Chapter 42 display at the upcoming FedEx Show.

We always seem to have a good turn-out of volunteers at the show but it is a heck of a lot easier for Jim if we have an idea of how many volunteers we'll have and who's doing what.

Also...even if you won't be able to volunteer, you may have some ideas or suggestions to make our display stand out and make more people aware of our existence.

Photographs of your completed and yet-to-be completed projects are always welcome.

Thank you all very much,
Bob

Chapter Meeting

Where: Medallion Foundation

Medallion Foundation - 5520 Lake Otis Pkwy # 104  Anchorage

There is a slight possibility that the venue may change.  I will affirm the meeting place on Monday.  My apologies for the late notice...it's actually Gale's fault, though, for being in Arizona playing golf instead of honestly earning the PFD like like the rest of us.

The main item for discussion will be the "The Great Alaskan Aviator Get-together and Barn Raising"...or whatever the FedEx Show is now going to be known as.   Jim Moss has been our chapter 42 FedEx Show honcho since about 1924 and he always appreciates the job our volunteers do at our booth.  Thanks to Jim, everything comes together nicely every year.

Anyway, we will be taking about our presence at the event and what we can do to make our booth stand out (in a good way).  Ideas are always welcome for attracting prospective members and letting current national EAA members know that we have a strong local chapter.

In the past we have had great participation in manning the Chapter 42 booth.  Great to meet new people who are interested in aviation.

Hope to see you Tuesday night!

Bob

Valdez Fly-In and Air Show

Where: Valdez

Valdez Fly In and Air Show

This event is getting more popular. Last year EAA national sent a writer and a photographer, and it was featured in Sport Aviation. There were approximately 110 airplanes on the ramp. Come on out. Fly or drive, it's worth the trip. It's a good time. If you don't feel like competing in the short take off and landging contest, there are seminars, and a Poker Run.

Registration, rules, traffic patterns and any other information you need is on the The rules for the competition are published on the web by the organizers.

We expect the top planes and pilots from the Northwest to be attending and competing at this years event and the demonstration of piloting and performance of bush planes will be unmatched anywhere in the United States.

Chapter Meeting

Where: Merrill Field

Hi, ya'll,

With Oshkosh coming up this midweek, some of our members will be out of town and unable to attend tomorrow's meeting.

That said, the venue for the meeting will be Merrill Field at Mark Barker's hangar.  The hangar is easy to find.  It is in the group of t-hangars located next to the Merrill Field maintenance garage...where the city keeps the field's dump trucks, snow plows, etc.  If one wishes to fly in to the meeting, taxi to "Q" parking.  After you pass through the automatic gate and cross the road, look to the left and you'll see the hangars.

If you haven't seen Marks beautiful Christen Eagle, this will be a great opportunity to check it out!

This will be a casual meeting with the agenda to include our participation at Arctic Thunder.

As always,,the $50.00 gift card to Northern Lights Avionics will be won by one of the attendees.  But we will have to wait until the "Keeper of the Cards" returns from Oshkosh before we can present the gift card to the winner.

Tuesday July 24th 2012 - 7:00 PM - Chapter Meeting at Mark Barker's hangar.

Hope to see a bunch of us there!
