EAA Chapter 42 is a chapter of the national Experimental Aircraft Association, and is dedicated to the promotion of homebuilt aircraft, education and recreation.
Our mission is to:
- Promote, encourage, and facilitate recreational aviation activities that provide educational opportunities.
- Have Fun!
EAA, the Experimental Aircraft Association, is a growing and diverse organization of members with a wide range of aviation interests and backgrounds. EAA was founded in 1953 by a group of individuals in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, who were interested in building their own airplanes. Through the decades, the organization expanded its mission to include antiques, classics, warbirds, aerobatic aircraft, ultralights, helicopters and contemporary manufactured aircraft.
You don't have to be a pilot or aircraft owner to be a member of EAA, but you do need to be a member of the national EAA to be a chapter member.
Our usual monthly schedule:
- First Tuesday - 7 PM - Board Meeting
- Second Saturday - 9:30 AM - Breakfast Get Together
- Fourth Tuesday - 7 PM - Chapter Meeting
Monthly meeting locations vary. Some meetings are held at member's homes and other locations to view projects, visit aviation related operations, participate in special events, etc. Some meetings are at the UAA Aviation Technology building on Merrill Field where we have presentations by subject matter experts in various subjects from aviation fuel and electrics to aviation safety. No meeting in December.
Refreshments are on hand at each meeting, where allowed.
Chapter 42 normally hosts a Fly-In/Drive-In Picnic each July.
We have over 90 members in good standing, and others at large - or at small (we are never sure about those) - with serveral flying projects and about 10 or so active projects in work at various stages of completion.
Chapter 42 ByLaws (3.4 mb PDF)Monthly Chapter Breakfast Get-Together at Piper's
The management at Pipers said that it will not be practical to do the monthly breakfast in June, July and August due to the heavy tourist traffic.
At 9:30 AM on the 2nd Saturday of each month, we have a great time having breakfast at Piper's. We've been having 14-18 people showing up. They set us up in the bar with no other customers in the room with us, the food is great and we had a fantastic waitress dedicated to us. Please join us, and bring the family and friends...
Piper's is located at:
Coast International Inn, 3450 Aviation Avenue.
The easiest access to Piper's is to head south on Spenard and just before International Airport Road take a right onto Aviation Avenue. Follow Aviation Avenue approx three hundred yards and take a left at the westside of the Inn. Parking is up front on the West side of the building.
We hope everyone can make it because Piper's has an aviation decor, the patio overlooks Lake Hood, the service and food are very good and we have the entire lounge to ourselves.
